Joe, Susan and Baci, a
Teddy Bear Schnoodle presently own a 36’ Monk Trawler with
over 16,000 miles of cruising aboard “Set Free” and enjoy
being members of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club.

If it floats, Joe has probably been on it! If it is a
trawler, Joe very well may have owned one!
Knowledge
Joe has a totally unique educational background to set
him apart. He has an MBA in Finance from UCLA and graduated
with honors from Nashville Auto Diesel College. That takes a
broad education to a whole new level! From an 8’ dingy as a
six year old to a 13’ Boston Whaler as a junior higher in
Rumson, New Jersey and finally trawlers, Joe can share
endless sea stories from cruising as a child with his
parents to selling his home in D.C. and home schooling three
kids for six months in the Abacos.
Boating is in Joe’s blood. Susan’s baptism by fire into
boating in 2007 will ease many a woman’s fears, as she
shares her experiences.
Couples
Cruising Experience
Susan began cruising in 2007 with Joe. She had never been on
a trawler, nor had she been on the open seas. Joe took Susan
on short weekend trips from St. Pete, Florida to Sarasota
across Tampa Bay.
Then they visited the Annapolis Boat Show and met Captain
Patty of Sea Sense. Sea Sense is a week long, women only
boating course, which Susan completed in 2008.
Then Joe and Susan cruised 27 hours across the Gulf of
Mexico to the Dry Tortugas! Finally, 2009 was a 3 month
cruise from St. Pete through Marathon, Key Largo, Bimini,
the Berry Islands, Nassau, The Exumas, Eleuthera, Abacos,
Lake Okeechobee and back to St. Pete. So often, the wife has
great reservations about cruising. Susan has faced all the
questions and flourished. This is not theory, but first
hand. Susan’s remarkable journey into cruising is valuable
for all to hear!

Joe, as a child, cruised from
Lake Champlain to Block Island to Smith & Tangier Islands in
the Chesapeake AND was able to take his own children to
those same places and more!
Now he and Susan are looking forward to the same with
